Take control of all your locates with the rugged and highly accurate 9800 series. Designed for production locating, the 9800 XT series exhibits enhanced sensitivity and uncomplicated line identification. Available in two models with two or three active frequencies.

LEFT/RIGHT Guidance and Audible Tone: the LCD centerline needle guides you to your target conductor. A needle moving to the right (audible steady tone) guides you to the right.  Moving left (broken, pulsing tone) tells you to move left.  When the needle goes to the center of the meter and all sound stops you are then precisely over your target.
NO MANUAL ADJUSTMENTS-FULLY AUTOMATIC; Automatic gain control compensates for changes in conductor depth and peaking of signal over distance and provides you with just the right amount of power.  No manual adjustment is needed. Manual over-ride is present should the operator decide to double check his readings .
SIGNAL STRENGTH INDICATOR: a 3 digit signal strength reading gives the operator additional guidance and useful information.  The higher the number the closer to the center of your target.  The strength indicator also tells the operator that his transmitter should be moved closer leading to better accuracy and eliminating ghost readings from too weak a signal.
DETERMINES DEPTH: Quick and easy Push Button Depth...Hold the locator directly over the target and push the button.  The depth displays in feet & inches on the LCD screen.
CURRENT MEASUREMENT INDICATION: Shown with depth display, informs the operator that the line he is measuring at that moment is the original one activated.
PASSIVE Power Line Detection with push button depth. Makes it easier to find all those “hot” power lines without set up. Simply turn the knob to the “lightning bolt” icon and sweep the area. Simple adjustment guides the operator to the powered conductor and a touch of the depth button gives him feet and inches to the target.
Multi-Frequency selection gets the job done with one instrument, reducing costs and training time since 2 or 3 different frequencies (dependent on model) are available to trace all of the conductors frequently found underground today. Transmitter is capable of transmitting all frequencies simultaneously or will automatically choose the best frequency for the conductor that it ‘sees’ (see below).
