| ![]() The Fell-21 "Reads" and locates cracks and faults in non metallic Sewer/Drain or Vacuum lines. The line under test is plugged temporarily with a common Rubber plug. The line is then "surcharged" or filled with water. The Sonde is mounted on to the end of a fiberglass push rod. The Sonde is pushed down the line by hand until it reaches the Rubber Plug. The Palm computer (PDA) is hard wired to the Sonde head and is in constant communication with it. The Sonde is activated and begins to emit a small electrical charge that travels through the water that surrounds it. The fiberglass push rod is now pulled back toward the operator. As the Sonde travels through the pipe the electrical charge that it emits is constantly searching for a break or crack or some other type of defect in the line. A break or crack lets the electrical charge escape temporarily to earth ground. Whenever this occurs the strength of the electrical loss is measured on the Palm Computer. This loss can be measured and plotted on the screen as to the size and length of the crack or defect. The exact location of these cracks and defects are also plainly shown on the screen allowing the technician to pinpoint precisely where the line needs to be repaired. This information can be uploaded to another computer and/or it can be printed out on the spot for verification and analysis and shown to the customer.
