Pipe Freeze Kits

ELECTRIC FREEZE KITS are easy-to-use pipe freezing units that allow the user to keep water systems operating while making repairs. This series of freezers are mini-refrigeration units that circulate self contained refrigerant to their aluminum freeze heads. The aluminum Freeze Heads are contoured for Pipe or Tubing and are held on with single thumb bolt. The heads form an ice plug in as little as 5 minutes in copper tube up to 1½" and steel pipe up to 1" with the 3-395 Kit and up to 2½" copper tube and steel pipe up to 2" with the 3-396 Kit. The freeze heads need only 3" of exposed pipe for clearance. Once the pipe is plugged, repairs can be made with no fear of the ice plug melting because the unit remains on. Both kits come with 8 1/2' specially designed cold temperature stay soft hoses.

Only ROFROST Freeze Kits have electric temperature display that constantly monitors the head temperature and tells the operator when the system is ready for the cut-in or repair. With a Cold-Shot freeze kit you don't have to drain water lines, sprinkler systems or hot water systems before cutting pipe or tubing. It keeps a fully pressurized system operating while you make repairs. The kit freezes liquids in steel, copper, cast iron, steel, aluminum and plastic pipes ranging from 1/8" through 2" using carbon dioxide (CO2). CO2 cylinders are available for rental or sale from any welding supply house. Ask for Dip tube-type cylinders.
The cold-shot is faster than "refrigerator-type" electric units, is more compact and less expensive. It uses less CO2 than "bag-type" pipe freezers, because the freeze head makes a better seal around the pipe. In three minutes you're ready to go to work on 1/2" copper tubing and just 5 minutes for steel pipe. Lines can be kept in their 'off' state as long as there is a supply of CO2 feeding the clamps. When repairs are made the gas is shut off allowing the frozen plug to thaw at room temperature. Manufactured by General Wire Spring Co.
Although CO2 is a non-toxic gas, it does displace oxygen and all necessary precautions must be taken to ventilate the area and keep an adequate supply of oxygen for all personnel.

Cold Shot clamps form a tight seal around pipes because of their flexible rubber sealing gaskets.
